A meeting was scheduled by the Chairman PAAPAM on 24th December’ 2016, at PAAPAM South Office Karachi, to discuss & share views with members on Free Trade Agreements (FTA’s) which the Government of Pakistan is going to sign with Thailand, Turkey and other countries, in near future. The purpose of this meeting was to formulate a joint action plan to overcome this potential threat.

A meeting with the newly elected President of FPCCI Mr. Zubair Tufail was held on 27th December’2016, at PAAPAM South Office Karachi. A detailed briefing of PAAPAM’s reservations on FTA’s and the negative impacts on our economy by the FTA’s were discussed by the Chairman PAAPAM with Mr. Zubair Tufail.

A fabulous DICE AUTOMOTIVE-2016 SHOW was successfully organized by NED University, Karachi on 28th & 29th December’ 2016 at NED’s auditorium. PAAPAM being an important stakeholder was also invited by Dice & NED University. An MOU between NED University & PAAPAM was also signed to ensure a formal liaison between PAAPAM-NED. The event concluded with a speech by Chairman PAAPAM Mr. Mashood Ali Khan.

As expected every year, Automechanika Dubai sold out yet again with waiting lists for all six sections of the show; Parts & Components, Electronics & Systems, Repair & Maintenance, Tyres & Batteries, Service Station & Car Wash and Accessories & Tuning. This year’s show will be taking 14 halls - Halls 1-8, Arena and Sheikh Saeed Halls 1 – 3, Sheikh Maktoum Hall, Sheikh Rashid Hall - and even Concourse 1 and 2 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Automechanika Dubai 2016 featured 2,017 exhibitors from 58 countries and welcomed more than 30,000 trade visitors from across 138 countries. The number of official country pavilions taking part this year is 25, which includes the world’s largest German Pavilion for the automotive aftermarket industry
and first time participations from Iran, Japan, The Netherlands and Peru.
